TERRY SWICEGOOD APRIL 28 2020"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ON LAUGHTER<\/p>\n<p>The comedian Phyllis Diller said that a smile is a curve that sets everything straight.<\/p>\n<p>I have written in previous E Votionals how laughter is healing. Bad news fills our days, and we need relief.<\/p>\n<p>And I have quoted Psalm 2 that \u201cHe who sits in the heavens laughs.\u201d I believe that God enjoys a good joke and smiles at something that\u2019s funny.<\/p>\n<p>So from time to time I\u2019m going to forward to you humor about our situation that surrounds the Covid-19.<\/p>\n<p>A FEW THINGS I HAVE LEARNED FROM ISOLATION<\/p>\n<p>I was so bored I called Jake from State Farm just to talk to someone.<br \/>\nHe asked me what I was wearing&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>2019: Stay away from negative people. 2020: Stay away from positive people.<\/p>\n<p>The world has turned upside down. Old folks are sneaking out of the<br \/>\nhouse, and their kids are yelling at them to stay indoors!<\/p>\n<p>You think it\u2019s bad now? In 20 years our country will be run by people<br \/>\nhome-schooled by day drinkers\u2026<\/p>\n<p>This virus has done what no woman had been able to do\u2026cancel all<br \/>\nsports, shut down all bars, and keep men at home!!!<\/p>\n<p>Do not call the police on suspicious people in your neighborhood!<br \/>\nThose are your neighbors without makeup and hair extensions!<br \/>\nSince we can\u2019t eat out, now\u2019s the perfect time to eat better, get fit,<br \/>\nand stay healthy. We\u2019re quarantined! Who are we trying to impress? We<br \/>\nhave snacks, we have sweatpants \u2013 I say we use them!<\/p>\n<p>Day 7 at home and the dog is looking at me like, \u201cSee? This is why I<br \/>\nchew the furniture!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Does anyone know if we can take showers yet or should we just keep<br \/>\nwashing our hands???<\/p>\n<p>I never thought the comment \u201cI wouldn\u2019t touch him\/her with a 6 foot<br \/>\npole\u201d would become a national policy, but here we are!<\/p>\n<p>Me: Alexa what\u2019s the weather this weekend?<br \/>\nAlexa: It doesn\u2019t matter \u2013 you\u2019re not going anywhere.<\/p>\n<p>Can everyone please just follow the government instructions so we can<br \/>\nknock out this coronavirus and be done?! I feel like a kindergartener<br \/>\nwho keeps losing more recess time because one or two kids can\u2019t follow<br \/>\ndirections.<\/p>\n<p>I swear my fridge just said \u201cwhat the heck do you want now?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Quarantine has turned us into dogs. We roam the house all day looking<br \/>\nfor food. We are told \u201cno\u201d if we get too close to strangers. And we<br \/>\nget really excited about car rides<\/p>\n<p>PRAYER: GOD WE THANK YOU FOR THE GIFT OF LAUGHTER. FORBID THAT WE BECOME<br \/>\nSO OVERWHELMED BY NEGATIVE CIRCUMSTANCES THAT WE MISS THE JOY<br \/>\nEVER BEFORE US, EVERY DAY.
