Sermon January 3, 2021

I don\u2019t know if your attitude about the New Year is similar to mine. \u00a0Some worry about civil \u00a0unrest as a new Administration take office. \u00a0 Disappointment that the vaccine for Covid is not being distributed as quickly as it has been promised. \u00a0
But hope that at some point in the not-too-distant future we will be back to a semblance of normal. \u00a0 \u00a0Going to church and ball games and family gatherings.
So as I begin a New Year I do so with a sense of adventure. \u00a0I feel very much very much like explorer. \u00a0There\u2019s a new land, a new world out there, and I\u2019m about to enter it. \u00a0What joys, what perils await?
You and I have just passed through the most difficult year of our lives AND we have made it. \u00a0We are still here. \u00a0In the toughest hours we have felt God\u2019s hand guiding us every step of the way. \u00a0
There is an old song that you might know, which goes: \u201cI know not what the future holds but I know who holds the future.
As you know our son is a pilot with American Airlines. So I\u2019m interested in everything about flying. \u00a0The other day I imagined this announcement by a flight attendant just before takeoff.
Hello, welcome to flight 2021. \u00a0 Please make sure your Attitude and Blessings are secured and locked in an upright position. All self-destructive devices should be turned off at this time. All negativity, hurt and discouragement should be put away. Should we lose Altitude under pressure, during the flight, reach up and pull down a Prayer. Prayers will automatically be activated by Faith. Once your Faith is activated you can assist other passengers. There will be NO BAGGAGE allowed on this flight.
