Dear Friends:
On Saturday March 14 our Session met to discuss the implications of the Coronavirus upon our life together. At that meeting we made the following decisions:
–Sunday worship will have been suspended beginning March 15 and continuing until we can reassess the situation.
–Small group and committee meetings will not meet.
–Our staff will continue to be paid full salaries during this time.
–We are asking that you mail your weekly offering to the church during this time. The address is: First Presbyterian Church of Peoria, 10236 N. 83 rd Avenue, Peoria, AZ 85345. The church needs your support, now more than ever.
–Across our nation gatherings for religious services, athletic events, and concerts have been cancelled. While these cancellations are dire, and the cancellation of our services at First Presbyterian Church are most unwelcome, we choose to err on the side of caution. If only one member of our congregation contracts the virus at our church, that is one too many.
We considered many other alternatives before making this decision. In the end this seemed to be the most prudent course.
In the days ahead we will monitor recommendations from health officials and keep you posted about how that affects our church. The Session will meet on March 26th and we will give you an update on March 27th.
Please be in prayer for a vaccine to be speedily discovered and for all victims of this virus.
With every blessing,
Ken Johnson
